This poem is in praise of the island of Eriskay and its people.

General note

Priest, poet and folklorist, Fr. Allan MacDonald, was born in Fort William, Scotland in 1859. He served from 1884 until his death in 1905 at the South Uist mission based at Daliburgh. MacDonald had a particular affinity for the island of Eriskay, just south of South Uist.
