Custodial history
With the pending closure of the Holy Angels Convent facility in Sydney Sr. Rita Clare contacted the Beaton Institute of Cape Breton University to discuss the future of the music related documents and recordings housed in the music room of the Convent. Through her teaching and community involvement Sr. Rita Clare has collected a significant volume of materials - documents, publications, photographs and audio and visual recordings which reflect the rich choral tradition and music education of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. This is significant collection as it documents, for future researchers, the choral and music heritage of the Island.
Scope and content
Series consists of audio-visual recordings, textual records, photographs and sheet music related to Sister Rita Clare, her work in the music department at Holy Angels High School and her work with the Cape Breton Youth Choir.
