360,000 people passed through the model coal mine during the 2 weeks it was shown. The record crowd was 55,000 people who came on Labour Day, September 7, 1936.

Scope and content

Item is a photograph of the crowd waiting to enter the model coal mine at the Province of Nova Scotia Exhibit, Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto that ran August 28 - September 12, 1936. This picture was taken from the reception room, looking towards the entrance of the building. On the left in the photograph is the Fisheries Exhibit.
