General note

The St. Kentigern Branch of the Scottish Catholic Society of Canada was active in performing plays at the Lyceum in order to raise money for charitable causes and to eventually have a Gaelic program broadcast on the radio. These efforts continued throughout the 30s and 40s and were no-doubt influenced by similar endeavors in Scotland. Fr. Nearing was a continued support and offered use of the Lyceum for performances and Gaelic classes.

General note

Author of the play, Archibald J. MacKenzie was a well-known bard, historian, genealogist and teacher from Rear Christmas Island. He is the author of The MacKenzie history of Christmas Island.
