Item is a booklet that was handed out during officer training for the 2nd Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton) between September 1975 and May 1976. The booklet was created to consolidate information about the history of the Cape Breton Highlanders and serve as a training medium for study as well as a reference for future regimental history lectures. The booklet contains an introduction by then commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel I.D. MacIntyre and sections that highlight the history of the unit before World War I to the unit as the 2nd Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton).

Item is a typewritten copy of a newspaper article published in an unidentified newspaper regarding Ralph Davies and Charles MacDonald (Sharkey MacDonald) returning from the 30th Anniversary: The Canadians in Italy delegation that travelled to Italy between April and May 1975. Attached to the article is a full schedule of events for the trip.

Item is one typewritten Cape Breton Highlanders regimental history which includes information about the First World War, including various battalions (85th, 185th, 193rd, 219th), Battle Honours, and casualties; changes made to the regiment in the inter-war years; and, a list of Honorary Colonels from 1871 to 1939. A note was typewritten at the bottom of page 3 in 1944 to announce that the Highlanders had taken part in a battle on the Arielli River in Italy and on the same page handwritten annotations were added to the list of colonels sometime after 1959.

Item is a typewritten letter from the Assistant Deputy Assistant & Quartermaster General to the Nova Scotia Highland Brigade’s Officer Commanding regarding declaration and attestation papers for the 185th Overseas Battalion, C.E.F. Included are two lists, one listing all the declaration and attestation papers that were handed in to Camp Headquarters at Aldershot, Nova Scotia and the other listing the declaration and attestation papers that had not yet been received at Camp Aldershot.

Item is an autograph book of signatures and poems collected during World War 1 when Mrs. MacDonald of Sydney Mines was a nurse serving in the military forces. Various battalion insignias, scenes from the local countryside, and a comic drawing of Mrs. Annie MacDonald in nurses' uniform were drawn in the book by wounded soldiers.

Cape Breton Chorale

Fonds consists of records documenting the performances, tours, community activities and governance of the Cape Breton Chorale. Fonds includes sound recordings from original performances, radio broadcasts, and taped interviews with choir members. Textual documents include financial reports, correspondence, programs, newspaper clippings, interview transcripts, awards, membership information and histories about the Chorale. Colour photographs and 35mm slides are found in the records along with a comprehensive collection of scrapbook albums documenting the activities of the group from its inception until 2010. A small collection of VHS video tapes are also available featuring the televised program "Now the Bells Ring with Rita MacNeil" as well as other performances.
