Item is a photograph of a dozen members of Sydney Academy's 1936 Gaelic class; individuals are identified on the reverse of the photograph. The man in the front centre of the photograph is holding a sign that says, "Sgoil Ghaidhlig, 1936, Ghlace Bay" (Glace Bay Gaelic School).

Fonds consists of an address to the Gaels in Canada by the author Donald Sinclair of Barra and later Glasgow. He names is signed using his patronymic "Dòmhnull Dhòmhnuill Dhunnchaidh Chìobair" and initials from the Gaelic for Sinclair "D.M.N.C.". His signature also states that his is from Barra.

Fonds consists of documents relating to research on Gaelic Culture in Nova Scotia and other items written by Ms. MacKinnon. Papers include:

  1. Manuscript copy of thesis: “A Study of the History and Traditions of the Highland Scot in Nova Scotia.” This includes the Gaelic transcription of the folktale "Cath nan Eun" by Hughie Dan MacDonnell and mentions other stories and storytellers of the time. MacKinnon also makes mention of well known singers and includes transcriptions of their songs, 1964 Typescript, 155 pages.

  2. An Appraisal of the Gaelic Collection in Cape Bretoniana. Refer also to bound copy: Reports file - College of Cape Breton. 1964. Hand-written and typescript, 10 pages.
  3. Menus and toasts in Gaelic, and correspondence concerning them. Original, typescript and printed, 27 pages. Two clippings of toasts printed in Scottish newspapers were in the custody of John A. MacDougall.

This fonds consists of a certificate for six shares in the Cape Breton Columbus Club, a speech, a souvenir copy of the funeral mass for Mr. MacDougall, the Gaelic story "'N Uair a Thig Ri Duine Thig Ris" about "Dòmhnull na n-Òrdagan" and the story "A'Bhraisd Lathurnach" or "The Brooch of Lorn by Scottish author Hector MacDougall.

Part of Scottish Catholic Society fonds

File contains two different speeches and their English translations. The first speech is not dated but was a welcome to John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir, Governor General of Canada on his visit to Glace Bay. Tweedmuir died in 1940. A photocopy is also included. The second speech is regarding the history of the Scottish Catholic Society of Canada and its Glace Bay Branch, Saint Margaret. It is dated 1942.
