Item is a copy of letters written by Pte. Norman Boyd (Boyed) to his mother in Sydney, Cape Breton. The letter is dated 23 October 1860. Pte. Byede was enlisted in the army of the Potomac (American Civil War), Siege Battery "B" joining in Hartford, Connecticut, and was stationed in Virginia when he wrote the letter.
