Passed along to the Highlander by Sydney Mines sports writer Jack MacNeil, it shows a work crew breaking ground for what is now Beech Street in the Northside town. Among those present were Nick Hall, owner of the horses, now deceased, Joe MacInnis, Eddy Boutilier, Jacob Vickers, Henry MacDonald, Jack Matheson and Jack Broderick, all of whom are deceased, and Ambrose MacNeil, Joe Young and William Hall. Originally owned by Alex Gordon of Sydney Mines, the photo is now the property of the Businessmen's Club of Sydney Mines.
