Series consists of documents related the life of Daniel McKay. Mr. McKay struck gold in the Yukon during the gold rush era and eventually moved to Sydney. He built and operated the Klondyke Hotel on 36 Walker (formerly Reserve St.) Street in Sydney.
The series consists of two sub-series. The first reflects his business at the Klondyke Hotel including a ledger and building receipts. The second includes custom documents and receipts from his travel to the Yukon and a map of the Bluenose gold mine.

Items are three photographs of a sailing ship passing through St. Peter's Canal.
Item is a photograph of a view of the ruins left by the Great Fire on the west side of Bentinck Street from Wentworth to Prince. The fire that started in a Charlotte Street shop would destroy 67 buildings, leave 31 families homeless, and cause over $500,000 in damage. The Robert Ingraham House, Dillon Dwelling, Woodill House, Rudderham House, and the Conway Building (now Ingersall Road) were all destroyed in the fire. However, the building seen on the left hand side of the photograph is still standing today, as well as the Khattar home and Khattar Law Offices.

Fonds consists of a number of songs collected by Reverend John Norman MacDonald in the summer of 1952. This manuscript was afterwards borrowed by a John MacRury, another Minister, who unwarrantably copied some of the songs and sent them to be printed in the Transactions of the Gaelic Society of Inverness. The songs contained in this manuscript collection were obtained from various sources; many of them were taken down from the recitation of various people in Uist and elsewhere at intervales beginning in the year 1874 up to the present.
