People gather around the miner's monument in New Waterford. The miner's monument is dedicated to the 65 miners who had died as a result of the mine explosion in the 12th colliery mine on July 25, 1917. The monument is seen placed on Ellsworth Avenue near the site of 12th colliery. The monument has since moved to the centre of New Waterford.

Item is a photograph of a temperance picnic held on Joseph Joshua (J.J.) Phillips' farm on Horne's Road, Mira. The woman with the light hat with flowers on the brim was J.J.'s daughter Amy. Next to Amy, with the dark straw hat, is her sister Olive. The man with the beard on the left hand side half way up the haystack is Captain Joseph Levi Phillips, who with his partner, Joe Nicol, ran the ferry service on the Mira River. The man with the beard second from the right on top of the haystack is Captain Joe Nicol.
