File consists of a letter from the Cook County Graduate School of Medicine, personal correspondence, letters congratulating him on the publishing of his book “Memoirs of a Cape Breton Doctor”, letters from people telling Dr. MacMillan how much they enjoyed his book and their hopes for a sequel.

File consists of 4 completed manuscript and 2 partial manuscripts of “Memoirs of a Cape Breton Doctor”/ “Hang the Lantern on the Gate”. “Hang the Lantern on the Gate” was the original title of Dr. MacMillan’s novel before it was changed to “Memoirs of a Cape Breton Doctor”.

File consists of a letter written in 1992 from M.L.A. Roland J. Thornhill to Ken Streatch the Minister of transportation and Communication asking that the bell and name plaque from the C. Monty MacMillan Ferry be given to the family, clippings detailing the final crossing of the C. Monty MacMillan Ferry and the opening of the Barra Strait Bridge.

Item consists of a speech given by Dr. MacMillan at the opening of the new hospital in Victoria County. Dr. MacMillan replaced the Minister of Health, Mr. Harold Connolly at the grand opening of the North Victoria Hospital. Mr. Connolly was not able to make it and asked Dr. MacMillan to give the opening address instead.

Item consists of a speech given by Dr. MacMillan in Bridgewater on April 20th, 1949. In the speech, he addresses Angus L. MacDonald. He begins by criticizing the conservative government and their inability to keep their promises. He then goes on to commend the Liberal government and everything they have achieved since coming into office in 1933.

Item consists of a speech given by Dr. MacMillan, where he talks about improvements for the road conditions in Victoria County. He proposes a new railway and highway bridge.

Item consist of a partial speech Dr. MacMillan gave in assisting the Baddeck Lions Club in launching the layout for their new memorial park, The Alexander Graham Bell Park. The second page of the speech is missing.

Item consists of a speech given by Dr. MacMillan at the opening of a new rural high school in Victoria County. Dr. MacMillan emphasizes the importance in receiving a higher education. The school was built to serve the Western and Central parts of Victoria County. The creation of this school made it easier for students to obtain a grade 12 certificate and there were also school buses available to pick up and drop off students.

Item consists of Lantern Light No. 10, which is the Newsletter of Victoria County Memorial Charitable Foundation and in this newsletter is a column called, "MacMillan's Memoirs", in this segment Dr. MacMillan recounts a time when his daughter Connie was visiting his sister and she had threw her a party in order to meet some children her age and the other little girls were talking about their father's but Connie didn't know what to say until she remembered that her father "has the biggest overdraft in the Royal Bank of Canada" than any other man in Baddeck.

He talks about how everything claimed by the Liberal party, when it comes to their public health plan is true and can be proven. He explains that the Liberal party has aided in the decline of Tuberculosis and plan to construct more hospitals.

File also consists of a column called “MacMillan’s Memories” in a Newsletter for Victoria County called “Lantern Light” detailing memories that Dr. MacMillan had written down over the years and a piece called “Baddeck Group of Alcoholics Anonymous It’s History”, which states that Dr. MacMillan was vital in facilitating AA meetings.

Dr. MacMillan talks about the similarities between Scotland and Cape Breton as well as the predominant highland and Gaelic culture in parts of Cape Breton.

Item consists of a speech given by Dr. MacMillan on February 19th, 1953. Dr. MacMillan is speaking about the medical field and the bill to legalize the practice of Chiropractic. He explains that someone who wishes to be a chiropractor should have to complete the same requirements as someone who wishes to enter the medical field or else it would not be safe for the people to go to them.
