Isobel T. MacDonald is a native of Askernish, South Uist and the sister of Canon John Angus MacDonald (retired). She composed much of the music for the Gaelic Catholic hymnbook, Seinnibh Dhan TIghearna introduced in the 1980s. Many of the hymns that she composed music for were compositions of Fr. Allan MacDonald or the South Uist bard, Donald John MacDonald, also known as "Dòmhnall Iain Dhunnachaidh".
