Seventeen Cape Breton Highlanders who were killed in action in Italy are buried in Cesena War Cemetery. They include: Francis Allen, Sable Chute Baltzer, John Cyril Campbell, Aloysius Chiasson, Kenneth Walter Fry, John Richard Funnell, Reuben Albert Gosbee, Douglas Albert Hadley, John Patrick Higgs, Ronald L’Italien, Aloysius Levangie, Laughlin Joseph Maclellan, Alphonsus Francis Noah, Roy Reynolds, William Edward Shephard, Henry Edward Smith, and Metro Zytaruk.
