Fonds consist of original correspondence and papers. “Father Jimmy” Tompkins was born in Margaree in 1870. Following ordination he became Professor of Mathematics and Vice-President of the University of St. Francis Xavier’s College, then served as Parish Priest in Canso and Reserve.

      Reverend Tompkin’s pocket watch was given to Father John Joseph MacDonald (Arichat) on July 28 1978. This marked the official opening of the Coady Tompkins Library in Margaree Forks.
