General note
Vol. 1 features Stephen J. MacKinnon's views on rural depopulation and plans to address this issue as discussed at the Society's annual convention in Christmas Island in 1922. It is often said that this meeting was the origin of what would become the Antigonish Movement and the development of the St. Francis Xavier Extension Department.
